Alex Fast-tracks Postsecondary Education
Even though Alex grew up uncertain that college was for her, she enrolls in and graduates from an early college high school. There, she earns postsecondary credit from advanced-level courses with a focus in STEM. After graduation, she enrolls at a nearby college as a sophomore and earns a bachelor’s degree in engineering while completing an internship coordinated by the local chamber of commerce.
Jordan Advances in High-Wage Career
With her counselor’s guidance and a strong local CTE program, Jordan completes an IT pathway in systems networking and earns a Network+ IT certification while in high school. After graduation, she decides to apprentice as a systems networking specialist, which leads to immediate employment upon completion, plus additional industry-valued credentials she can build on in the future.
Taylor Re-Enrolls in College
After 10 years at the same company, Taylor’s advanced manufacturing job is eliminated due to automation. He considers occupational options and decides to re‑enroll in a local community college to earn an AAS in nursing. Having started his degree before, he takes advantage of his state’s “last mile” scholarship to help cover the remaining tuition costs.
